See How A Senator’s Wife Is Helping Her Husband
The wife of Senator Adesoji Akanbi, the man representing Oyo South in the red chamber, Mrs Folake Akanbi is making the best of the festive season.
She hosted women in her constituency on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the constituency office of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ibadan.
Known to be highly supportive of her husband’s political ventures, it was an opportunity for her to seek their support as Senator Akanbi goes into the 2019 polls, hoping to retain his seat.
“We should give thanks to God who has been with us all year round and saw us through the turbulence of the year 2018.
“My sincere gratitude goes to all our women for the support given to my husband, Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi which has contributed to his laudable performance at the Red Chambers.
“As the general elections is gradually approaching, I seek the cooperation of all our women in mobilizing and canvassing women in the grassroots.
“Women are known to be trustworthy and firm in their support. In the remaining weeks, we need every support for outstanding victory in the elections,” she said.
Trust the ADC women to spice up the event with singing and dancing. Mrs would not dampen their spirit. She seized the opportunity to express her humanitarian side.
She distributed food items, materials and cash, and urged the women to share them adequately among women in their various local governments and wards.
She also extended same to widows and the vulnerable. “There is great reward in sharing,” she says.
She was supported by her friends, the ADC State Woman leader, Mrs Funmi Arulogun and Senatorial woman leader, Alhaja Olabode.
All the women leaders and executives from the different local governments and wards were also in attendance.
Senator Adesoji Akanbi faces a fierce battle to retain his seat in 2019 as Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state has vowed to return to the Senate where he left in 2007.
