On April 3, 2016, Biolose Gilbert employed Godwin Onoja to work as a security guard at No. 12, Ashek Jarmah St., Jabi, Abuja.

Whatever came over him, no one seemed able to explain.

Onoja just brought one engineer Jamilu and one Maigemu, now at large, and dismantled his boss’ power generator without his consent.

Along with his accomplices, they also stole some items which they must have sold.

Gilbert reported the matter at Life Camp Police Station and during police investigation, some of the stolen parts were recovered.

The owner put the cost of the stolen parts at N1million.

The 41-year-old security guard appeared before a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to a three-count charge, bothering on joint act, criminal breach of trust and theft.

The judge, Abubakar Sadiq, sentenced Onoja to 14 months imprisonment for stealing his employer’s property.

He, however, gave the convict an option of N20, 000 fine, warning him to be of good behaviour and desist from committing crime after serving out his punishment.

To the judge, this punishment would serve as deterrent to others.

Really? We wish him luck.
