Trouble started when the herdsmen took their cows to a pond in Kinere village for a drink, said to be the community’s only source of water.

A villager, who had gone to fetch water at the pond, saw the situation and confronted the herders.

The villager was said to have been attacked and injured.

Other villagers reportedly mobilised to the scene in a reprisal and killed some of the herdsmen.
