Jegede Toluwa was on Tuesday arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

Toluwa, who resides at No. 15, Ijaye Road, Ogba, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and obtaining under false pretence.

The prosecutor, Insp Victor Eruada, told the court that the accused committed the offences in September 2017 at Agege, Lagos.

According to him, the accused collected N48,000 from one Mrs Abimbola Abiola with a promise to procure a shop for her which he never did.

“The accused collected the money and failed to get the shop as promised and he converted the money to his personal use,” he said.

Toluwa, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and the Magistrate, Mrs G. O. Anifowoshe, granted him bail in the sum of N20,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Anifowoshe adjourned the case till Jan. 17 for mention.

If found guilty, the suspect risks going to jail for 15 years.
