The Gombe State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) has asked the Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC) to come to their aid.

Recounting the dilemma of NASET in the state, Chairman of the Association, Lazarus Beta Kala, said the Gombe State wing of the association is yet to be recognized by the National one due to the nonexistence of a chapter for the association in the state.

Kala, who lead other members of the association to pay a courtesy call on the Gombe State council of the NLC also cited the non-payment of the 30 percent basic salaries to the teachers as another challenge that has bedeviled the improvement of special education in the state.

Explaining why enactment of special education is encountering setbacks in the state, an executive of NASET, Adaka Ahon said the lack of a director who will serve as a backer on issues of special education in the State ministry of education was a major hiccup.
