Saraki Absent As Buhari Meets Senate Delegation Over IGP Controversy
President Muhammadu Buhari has met with a 10-man delegation of the Senate over rift between Senate President Bukola Saraki and Inspector General of the Police, Ibrahim Idris.
The meeting, which is took place at the President's office inside Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, started around 1:00pm.
The Senate President had last week told his colleagues that the IGP had transferred some criminal suspects being interrogated in Kwara State to Abuja.
Saraki alleged that the plot was to make the suspects implicate him in their statement.
Consequently, the Senate set up a committee to discuss with Buhari.
The committee chaired by Saraki has nine other members of the upper chamber.
However, Saraki who was expected to lead the delegation was absent. Also absent was a member of the delegation, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Those present are Senate Leader Ahmad Lawan, Chief Whip Olusola Adeyeye, Minority Leader Godswill Akpabio, Danjuma Goje, Sam Anyanwu, Aliyu Wammako and Fatima Raji-Rasaki.
A video of the meeting was posted by Buhari's Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad.
