The life of a trader identified as MM is apparently only worth a pack of cigarettes.

That is at least what some suspected cult members who shot him dead have proven.

The gunmen said to be numbering five, killed MM, for allegedly refusing to sell a pack of cigarettes to them.

A source on Tuesday said that the trader was shot in the head at his shop at the Gaa Akanbi area of Ilorin, Kwara State, by one of the suspected cult members.

It was learnt that the assailants went to the victim’s shop to buy cigarettes.

MM allegedly said he had run out of stock, even when one of the gunmen pointed to a pack of cigarettes in the shop.

The trader was said to have told the suspected cult members that the pack had been bought by another customer.

“The cult members were enraged when he told them that the man that bought the cigarettes was on his way to collect them.

“One of them pulled out his gun and shot MM in the head,” a source said.

While MM was in the throes of death, the cult members reportedly went into the shop, took the pack of cigarettes and fled.

The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the killing.
