SAD: Okada Kills Nigerian Defender 'Babayaro'
When Niger Tornadoes travel to Nnewi to face FC Ifeanyi Ubah in the next round of fixtures in the Nigeria Professional Football League, one of their reliable defenders, Hussaini Isah fondly referred to as Babayaro will be missing in action.
Isah is neither injured nor serving out a suspension from accumulated card offences, but he is no more, having lost his life on Monday in a road accident in his base in Minna, Niger State.
It was gathered that Hussaini lost his life during a motorcycle accident along Maitumbi Road, Minna.
“With sorrow heart, we painfully announced the sudden exit of our dedicated and humble defender Hussaini Isah, who lost his life this Monday evening,” the club wrote on their Twitter handle on Monday night.
“The defender who just returned to the team after a match suspension due to yellow card accumulation was hit by a reckless motorcycle rider popularly called Okada along Maitumbi road, Minna, Niger State.”
The left-back was named man of the match in Niger Tornadoes’ 1-1 Nigeria Professional Football League draw against Kwara United in a match day 21 encounter on Sunday at the Bako Kontagora Stadium, Minna.
This is the second death this season in the NPFL as former Enyimba captain and Kano Pillars defender Chinedu Udoji died in a ghastly auto crash in February, moments after also posting a man-of-the-match performance in a League game.
