Mr Sikiru left home on Monday with the plan to return home with a new pair of shoes for his last born, Alaba.

But tragedy laid in wait for him at Ita Balogun in Ilesa town where it had been a day of very heavy rain.

Around 7PM, Sikiru was crossing the road when he was knocked down by a hit and run driver and was left in pain for two hours with no one to help.

He was on the same spot when a bike also ran into him, further crushing his bones and leaving him with less chances of survival.

Somehow, he was later discovered and rushed to the Wesley Guild Hospital in Ilesa, but it was too late as he died on Tuesday afternoon.

Sikiru had been a taxi driver for more than 27 years but unable to own his own vehicle.

With six children, he might have given up on owning a vehicle but rather focusing on earning enough to raise his kids with good education.

But all his dreams to give the best of life to Hakeem, Sodiq, Taiwo, Kehinde, Idowu and Alaba the last born as well as their mother, have now been shattered.

Sikiru’s remains have since been taken to his hometown in Ede, Osun state for burial while his home in Isona area in Ilesa remains deserted.
