The remains of a commercial motorcyclist popularly called Okada rider, Abubakar Jibir, who was declared missing has been recovered after four days.

His newly bought motorcycle was also recovered.

The 25 years old rider and father of two, who hails from Kuri village in Yamaltu Deba local government of Gombe state, left his family in Kuri to make ends meet in Gombe state.

On his way, he took a passenger to an unknown location around NTA Lafiyawo Gombe, and that was the last they saw of him.

According to the father of the deceased, Jibir Kawu, late Abubakar, who was working with six of his friends, left home at around 8:00pm, and that was the last they saw of him.

“His friends searched and did not find him anywhere then they called to tell me about the sudden disappearance.

“We searched everywhere including hospitals and police stations but didn’t find him, so we decided to go into prayers,” he said.

He said, “After days of prayers we went to a radio station in Gombe to give announcement of the missing person after which we were told that the police have recovered a body of unidentified man from a bush behind progress radio Gombe that we should go and see if he is our son”.

The family was surprised to discover that the body was their missing son’s own, who just bought a new motorcycle and relocated to Gombe.

Confirming the incident to Bounce News, the spokesperson of Gombe state police command, DSP Obed Mary Malum said a body which was identified as Abubakar (Habu) Jibir was recovered and had been released to the family for burial.

She added that the commissioner of police had warned and advised motorcycle operators in Gombe to be security conscious, work from 5:30am to 10pm, and avoid taking anybody to places they are not familiar with.
