The report coming from the camp of Argentina at the 2018 FIFA World Cup has revealed that all is far from well.

The players have fallen out with head coach Jorge Sampaoli and have reported him to the Argentina Football Federation (AFA) general manager Jorge Burruchaga on Saturday night.

They appear not to be happy with Sampaoli’s selection and formation, which has seen them lose one and drew one of their two matches.

Argentina played out a 1-1 draw with Iceland and were beaten 3-0 by Croatia, condemning them to the bottom of Group D.

With a must-win game against Nigeria ahead on Tuesday night, captain Lionel Messi and defender Javier Mascherano, who are two senior players in camp, may now do the selection for the tie.

Argentina's 1986 World Cup winner Ricardo Giusti has claimed that he has spoken to Burruchaga, who has admitted that the players would be consulted for the Nigeria game.

“The players will decide the team, that's a fact. If Sampaoli wants to sit in the bench, he can do it. If not, no problem.”

Argentina need nothing but victory in the encounter against the Super Eagles, and will hope Iceland do not beat Croatia in the other game, for them to advance to the Round of 16.

Nigeria need to beat Argentina or avoid a defeat if they must qualify from the group.
