After firing blanks in his debut appearance at the World Cup, Sadio Mane has now gotten off the mark; scoring the first goal in Sunday's 2-2 draw between Senegal and Japan.

The Liverpool forward was on target in the 11th minute for the Teranga Lions who were looking for their second win on the bounce at the Mundial.

However, Takashi Inui curled home an equaliser for Japan before half-time, before Mane played a part in Senegal’s second goal, scored by Moussa Wague with 19 minutes to play.

At that stage, Mane and his teammates were on course to take charge of Group H with two wins from two matches, but Japan substitute Keisuke Honda slotted home a leveller to ensure the sides sit joint top of the pool with four points apiece.

Japan will face Poland in their final group game while Senegal have a date with Colombia.
