Super Eagles midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo, has been named in the Team of The Week after first round of matches at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Etebo was outstanding despite scoring an own goal as Nigeria fell 2-0 to Croatia on Saturday.

After first round of matches was concluded on Tuesday, FIFA named outstanding players in its Team of The Week with four Mexico players making the squad after their 1-0 victory over defending champions, Germany.

Goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa got the nod for keeping out the Germans, while other Mexico players that made the Team of The Week include Jesús Gallardo, Héctor Herrera and Hirving Lozano.

Spain’s Diego Costa lead the attack and supported by Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo and Russia’s Aleksandr Golovin.

Others who made the squad are defender: Andreas Granqvist of Sweden, Uruguay's José Giménez and England's Kieran Trippier.
