Russia 2018: Etebo Assures Eagles Will Bounce Back Against Iceland
The Super Eagles of Nigeria disappointed millions of their fans on Saturday as they were beaten 2-0 by Croatia in their opening game of the World Cup in Russia
Desperate to now redeem themselves and keep their World Cup ambitions back on track, the Nigeria national team players are talking tough even as they assure all that they would get it right against Iceland in their second group game.
One of them is midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo who many adjudged to be Nigeria’s best player in Saturday’s game.
Etebo says they know their shortcomings and would do better against Iceland.
“Everyone is talking about our poor handling of set-pieces in the (Croatia) match. Yes, we didn’t do well there. That has been noted. We actually have been working on set-pieces in our training sessions." He told CSN in Russia.
“Apart from the friendly games and in this game against Croatia, most of the goals we have conceded were from set-pieces. We have to take it more seriously, improve on that because it’s important to the team going forward.
“We’ll certainly fight to win the next game against Iceland. The first game against Croatia has been lost, but we’re not out yet. We’ll fight to recover well in this group and qualify for the next round," he added.
