Russia 2018: Did The Simpsons Predict World Cup Semi-Finalists?
The animated sitcom, The Simpsons, featured Donald Trump as US president in 2000 and in 2017 it became a reality.
Now an episode of the show from 1997 almost predicted what would have been a Mexico Vs Portugal final.
The Mexico against Portugal match features in the fifth episode titled ‘The Cartridge Family' of season nine.
At the ongoing 2018 World Cup in Russia, the only way Portugal and Mexico will meet is if they make it to the final.
Portugal's dramatic draw with Iran means they finish second in Group B behind Spain, putting them into the top half of the draw for the knockout stage.
If Mexico had won the group, they would have been in the bottom of the draw, meaning they cannot meet Portugal until the final, but since they finished second, Mexico may just face off against Potugal in the semis.
This prediction comes up after Portugal plan to pull a 'Spain' in Russia, by winning the World Cup two years after becoming European Champions in 2016.
Spain became champions of Europe in 2008, and then World Cup Winners in 2010.
