Manchester United skipper, Wayne Rooney is ready to stoop low for a reduced take-home pay in order to get his move to boyhood club Everton fast-tracked.

It is widely reported that the 31-year-old is expected to become the Toffees' sixth summer arrival in the next few days once personal terms are finalised, taking him back to the club where his professional career began 15 years ago.

Rooney has two years left to run on his current United deal but is said to be keen for a summer exit due to a lack of playing time last term, although a deal with Everton is yet to be officially finalised.

According to Sky Sports News, the 31-year-old has been told that he has to accept a reduced salary at Goodison Park, which he will agree to if it means getting a free transfer finalised.

England international Rooney had a paltry five goals to his name last season having made 25 Premier League appearances in 2016-17, 15 of which were starts.
