Everything that has a beginning has an end and it is looking like the end is around the corner as far as Ronaldo and Real Madrid are concerned.

No one saw this coming not after the huge role he played in the unique double; La Liga and Champions League.

According to a Portuguese tabloid, A Bola, Ronaldo has informed Real Madrid president Florentino Perez that he wants to leave the club this summer.

The 32-year-old was recently embroiled in a tax complaint from Spanish prosecutors who alleged that he evaded €14.7 million (£13m) in tax and it has left the four-time Ballon D’Or winner outraged.

However, Ronaldo has been quiet since the charges levied against him and only uttered the words: ‘I have a clear conscience.’

Though many expect Real Madrid to handle the case well enough to ensure that Ronaldo stays, it is not impossible that he could make a shock return to Old Trafford.

Ronaldo is currently Real Madrid’s all-time leading scorer with 406 goals in 394 appearances since he joined from Manchester United in 2009.
