Real Madrid suffered a 1-0 loss at home in the hands of Real Betis on a day lead striker, Cristiano Ronaldo made a return to the team.

Ronaldo returned from a five-match ban on Wednesday, but could not find the back of the net as Real Madrid failed to score for the first time on 74 matches.

The tie was heading to a barren draw until added time when Antonio Sanabria scored the only goal through a header stunning 65,102 spectators at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The loss leaves Real Madrid seven points adrift of leaders Barcelona just five games into their defence of La Liga having failed to win in all three home games this season.

It is the first time Betis have won at the Bernabeu since 1998.
