The burial of the mother of Senator Osita Izunaso on Sunday, December 2nd created an opportunity for Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha and his deputy,  Eze Madumere to meet face to face ever since their political war commenced.

Their meeting was, however, not rosy as both men who still nurse anger against each other, avoided one  another, but not without incident that would have torn the burial ceremony apart.

At the event which was held in Ohakpu in Oru West LGA of the state, the governor reportedly refused to recognise Madumere as the deputy governor of the state, but rather mentioned Calistus Ekenze, as deputy governor designate.

Okorocha's action elicited murmuring, which disturbed the peace in the church for some minutes.

But the Chief Mourner, Senator Izunaso who sensed danger, quickly introduced Madumere as the Deputy Governor of Imo State, which caused another round of reactions from the dignitaries that graced the occasion.

Okorocha however, justified his action by saying that, “there is an existing matter at the appeal court against the high court judgement that quashed the impeachment of Madumere by the State House of Assembly.''

Madumere in his reaction described Okorocha’s behavior at such an event that brought top Nigerians together, as embarrassing to the state, and not to him Madumere, whom the governor targeted to deride.

He maintained that he still remains the Deputy Governor of the state whether Okorocha likes it or not, adding that it was unfortunate that the governor abuses court orders with impunity and still runs to court for justice when he feels his own rights are being infringed.

Madumere commended Senator Izunaso for his maturity and approach in bringing the situation under control at the event.
