The rate at which places of worship are desecrated is worrisome.

Churches and Mosques are the last places to experience robbery years back but the reverse is the case now.

Places of worship are now soft targets for robberies and killings.

The latest robbery incident was witnessed at the Akesan branch of Four Square Gospel Church, Lagos State.

 It was gathered that the robbers went into the church and broke the locks to the entrance of the church auditorium. 

They ransacked the whole church looking for money but could not locate the offering box, so decided to steal the musical equipment worth over N650,000.

When the church management and worshippers went to the church in the morning, they discovered that the locks to the church auditorium were broken.

It was discovered that the robbers had stolen musical equipment in search for money.

When the matter was reported at Igando Police Division, one of the suspects, Boniface Sunday, 32 was arrested. 

The police did not state if the stolen items were recovered namely three nox mixers, keyboards.

The suspect was charged before Ejigbo Magistrates court for conspiracy, stealing and breaking into the place of worship.

He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector G. Simom did not oppose the bail application by his counsel.

The Presiding Magistrate, L.K.J Layeni granted Sunday bail in the sum of N700,000.

He was remanded in prison custody while the matter was adjourned till 13 June, 2018.
