When your daughter is an international superstar, what do you do? You make the best of the situation, right? Well not quite, at least not with Rihanna.

The ''Work'' singer has taken her father to court in the United States claiming that he is exploiting her name for his entertainment business.

She claims her father, Ronald Fenty, and his business partner have falsely suggested that she is connected to their firm, Fenty Entertainment.

According to her, the false suggestion has misled the public and hurt the name of her beauty business which is also called Fenty.

Rihanna has asked the court to prevent her father’s firm from using the Fenty name for the business.

The lawsuit says Rihanna owns trademarks in the US for the Fenty name and has sent formal "cease and desist" requests.

Fenty Entertainment entered negotiations for Rihanna to perform 15 shows in Latin America for about $ 15 million, without her authorization, according to the complaint.

"Although Mr Fenty is Rihanna's father, he does not presently, nor has he ever, had the authority to act on Rihanna's behalf or had the right to use her Fenty mark, to exploit the goodwill of her Fenty brands or to solicit business on her behalf," it said.

In September 2017, Rihanna launched her eponymous beauty line Fenty Beauty, which was widely lauded by the beauty community.
