Forget the sparkling whiteness, it's all chaff!

Your imported foreign rice is stale, probably expired and only meant for animal and fish feeds.

That is the message from the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria.

The group made this known while partnering with the Nigerian Customs Service to end cases of smuggled grains into the country through land borders.

On Wednesday, the two organisations signed a memorandum of understanding.

The President Rice Farmers Association, Aminu Goronyo, told newsmen in Abuja that even though the importation of rice through the land borders has been banned since April 2016; smugglers are not relenting.
