So much has been said about an expected plan by Arsenal to bring in some big players to the Emirates Stadium during the January transfer window.

But it appears the fans’ hopes will be dashed again as they must now be used to.

Manager Unai Emery has revealed that Arsenal can only afford to loan players during the January transfer window and cannot make permanent signings.

After being strongly linked with a move for Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez and few other big names, the story has changed.

"I don't know now his [Suarez's] situation but we can only sign on a loan," Emery said.

"We cannot sign permanently. We can only loan players."

This news will surely make Arsenal fans wish that the club could make a U-turn and offer its longest serving player, Aaron Ramsey a new deal after he was told he could leave.

But that will not happen as the Welsh captain seems to have moved on already and Emery does not seem to be looking in that direction either.

One thing that fans can be happy about, however, is that Ramsey will continue to give his best for the remainder of his stay.

"I say to him every day, is that we need his performance for us," Emery said.

"In the last match I was very happy with him. I asked in the last match at Blackpool if he is OK to help us play and he said, 'Yeah, coach, I want to play' and he played with a very big behaviour and commitment to us.

"After, his future belongs to him, his family and agent. Every day he's here with us, he's working very well.

"I want his behaviour and his focus to be on West Ham on Saturday."
