Residents Flee Rivers Community Over Cult War
Residents of Ibaa community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State have fled the area over a cult war.
The residents are said to have sought refuge in a primary school in the neighbouring Rumuji community.
The quiet community was thrown into crisis penultimate week after rival cult groups declared war.
Two persons said to be below the ages of 16, were shot in their homes by rampaging rival cultists on Monday.
A resident of the area, Gabriel Ene told Bounce News that the people were living in fear following the threats of more attacks.
“Life is now nasty in Ibaa as the place has been deserted and looks like a grave yard because of threats from the boys that they will visit the community again to cause more havoc.
Efforts to reach the spokesman of the State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), failed, as he did not reply the text messages sent to him.
