Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has reacted to Anthony Joshua’s knockout victory over Alexander Povetkin at Wembley.
The Nigerian boxer did well to retain his WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles in emphatic fashion with a seventh-round stoppage on Saturday, surviving an early scare.
In attendance at the fight was Mendy, who is sidelined with a metatarsal injury.
Mendy, who won the 2018 FIFA World Cup with France, managed to get his hands on two of Joshua’s belts after the fight, and took to twitter to express his feelings.
“Just when you thought I didn't win enough trophies in 2018 @anthonyfjoshua #JoshuaPovektin.”
Aside the 2018 World Cup trophy, the 24-year-old won the Premier League and Community Shield with City this year.
