Protest Rocks Osun PDP Over Davido’s Uncle’s Victory
At the weekend, Ademola Adeleke, the senator representing Osun West, won the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in his state.
His nephew, Davido, has congratulated him for winning the keenly contested ticket.
Fatai Akingbade placed third with 52 votes, while Nathaniel Oke made up the rear with three votes.
But on Monday, protesters took to the streets in the state with placards to condemn the election.
They were supporters of Adeleke’s opponent, Akin Ogunbiyi, and claimed that the latter won the election, but the results were manipulated in favour of Davido’s uncle.
According to Punch, the angry supporters said the party might suffer a huge loss at the election if nothing was done to address the alleged electoral fraud.
Some of the supporters of the aggrieved aspirant said the opposition party would make the election easy for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gboyega Oyetola, if Adeleke is presented as the PDP's candidate.
