Protest Rocks Gombe PDP Primaries
Some members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Gombe State are disgruntled.
They are not satisfied with the conduct of primary elections for the Gombe State House of Assembly.
The protest was said to be as a result of a plot by the Deputy Governor of Gombe state, Charles Iliya to disrupt the already announced result of the election in favor of his favorite candidate.
The protesters stormed Custodian Hotel Gombe as it was rumoured that party officials were hiding in the hotel to manipulate the results.
This they said was against the will of delegates of Billiri east constituency of Billiri local government, Gombe state who had on Thursday voted for Rambi Ibrahim Ayala as their representative in the Gombe state house of assembly.

Rambi was declared winner of the keenly contested primary election by the returning officer of the primary election, Barrister Jacob Lawan.
He was said to have garnered 25 out of 49 votes to closely beat his opponent Mrs. Rabi Daniel, former Commissioner Gombe State Ministry of Women Affairs Gombe state.
Rambi's re-election to contest as member representing Billiri east constituency is the first time a member of the constituency will be getting re-elected to contest.
Addressing the protesters who were chanting "Rambi must be given his mandate", Secretary of the electoral committee Kachi Ononuju said there is no cause for alarm as the announced result still stands valid as far as the electoral committee is concerned.
He said that what was speculated has no basis as the state governor has made it clear that the party stands with the announced result.
One of the protesters Akawu Palle told Bounce News that they are satisfied with the comment by secretary of the electoral committee, but they still want to see Rambi given the party flag.
