Pregnant Woman, Others Slump During Teachers' Recruitment In Akwa Ibom
They were looking for a way to earn a living but they met their waterloo.
At least four people, including a pregnant woman, slumped during the teachers’ recruitment exercise hosted by the Akwa Ibom State Government.
The pregnant woman, whose identity was not disclosed, collapsed at Aka Community Secondary School Centre, while three others fainted at West Itam Secondary School, Itu, centre, near Uyo metropolis.
The incident happened on Monday while the applicants were struggling under the scotching sun to get their employment recruitment forms from the officials.
The personnel, who quickly attended to the woman, later brought out other pregnant women and nursing mothers from the queue and attended to them.
A fortnight ago, state authorities announced the intention to recruit 3,000 teachers into the primary school system to improve children's learning.
