The Lagos State Police Command’s Gender Unit is investigating a case of defilement reported by a 14-year-old girl against her father, Johnson Okon.
Mr. Okon is 58 years old Okada rider who resides on Charismatic Road, Abule, Berger, Ikorodu.
According to the victim, after her father had defiled her, she reported to her mother who did not believe and warned her not to tell anybody.
But the secret her mother thought she could conceal has now been blown into the public sphere.
The girl added that because of her mother’s inaction, she ran away from home and sought refuge in the home of her father’s friend.
That was when police got involved in the case and the suspect got apprehended.
While the police are investigating the matter, the teenage girl has been referred to Mirabel centre for medical examination.

Similarly, the Gender Unit is also investigating another case of defilement that occurred in the same Ikorodu area of the state.
This time, it is the case of the 'uncle next door'.
It was reported by one Mrs Obinna, aged 37 of Selewu, Ikorodu on behalf of her 6-year-old daughter against Habib Abdullahi.
The accused is aged 64 and is known to work as a carpenter residing in the same address as the complainant.
During investigation, it was revealed that on Monday, December 12, 2018, the suspect took the little girl into his room and inserted his fingers into her private part.
Obviously a more proactive mother, Mrs. Obinna noticed that her daughter was unnecessarily irritated and withdrawn so she began to ask her questions.
Then, she revealed to the mother what ‘Uncle Abdullahi’ had done to her.
Investigation is ongoing, and the police have promised that the suspects will be charged to court once all crimes have been proven.
