Police Say They Only 'Invited' Deji Adeyanju
Deji Adeyanju has been making the headlines lately for his political activism.
From being a vocal member of the PDP, he became the Convener, Concerned Nigerians Pro-Democracy Group.
Then news broke on Friday that the he was arrested at the Unity Fountain, Abuja, during the daily sit-out in demand for the release of Shiite leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.
But the Police in Abuja have now denied that they had arrested the activist.
The Spokesman of the command, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, said that Adeyanju was not arrested but invited by the police.
“Adeyanju was only invited by the police and not arrested as widely reported by some media,” he said.
Followers of El-Zakzaky have been staging protests in parts of the country demanding for the release of their leader.
Adeyanju has been clear about his disapproval of the Nigerian government led by APC’s Muhammadu Buhari.
