Police Charge Jussie Smollett For Filing False Report
American actor, Jussie Smollett has been charged with filing a false police report.
The 'Empire' star had told police that he was attacked by two men in January, who were also homophobic towards him.
Doubt was later cast on his account after US media reported that police believed he may have paid two Nigerian brothers to stage the attack.
According to police spokesperson, Anthony Guglielmi, the gay actor has been charged for disorderly conduct and filing a false police report in a tweet.
Police were convinced that Jussie had a hand in the attack after obtaining footage which appeared to show the two brothers - Ola and Abel Osundairo, buying materials, including ski masks, that had allegedly been worn by the actor's attackers.
