Police Arrest More Key Members Of Offa Bank Robbery Gang
The idea of publishing the pictures of the Offa bank robbers in the media has turned out to be a smart move by the police.
The police say they have been getting “several credible leads” from Nigerians.
And as a result, IRT teams deployed by IGP Ibrahim Idris to Kwara, Ondo, Osun, Oyo and Ekiti states were able to arrest two more leaders of the gang whose pictures were circulated by the media.
The first of the confessed gang-leaders arrested is Micheal Adikwu, a native of Apa LGA Benue State.
He is a dismissed police CPL who was arrested by the Police in 2012 and charged to Court in Kwara state for compromising by releasing some wanted armed robbers.
He spent three years in prison and subsequently found his way out in 2015 and became a notorious armed robber.
He was arrested again by IRT operatives in Kwara state two weeks ago.
The second one is Kunle Ogunleye aka Arrow. He is a 35-year-old native of Kwara state. He was arrested on Sunday in Oro town, Kwara state.
“All Suspects arrested among others have confessed to the Offa bank robberies and murders,
“They are assisting the IRT teams in arresting more of the bank robbers. Investigation continues,” the police said in a statement on Monday.
