Forces against the Senate confirmation of Muiz Banire as Chairman of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria.(AMCON) appear to be unwilling to back down.

They are seriously plotting to ensure that Banire does not get the job.

The plot is reportedly being orchestrated by former Governor of Lagos State and national leader off All Progressives Congress (APC),  Bola Tinubu.

Banire and Tinubu are currently said to be at loggerheads, with the former accused of being part of the team orchestrating the discord in the Lagos APC and also making discreet moves to oust Tinubu from his seat in the party.

Banire, former National Legal Adviser of APC, was appointed to head AMCON by the President Muhammadu Buhari.

Banire had been scheduled to appear before the Senate for confirmation on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 but was prevented after the three senators from Lagos - Olamilekan Solomon, Remi Tinubu and Gbenga Ashafa kicked against his appearance.

Before the joint protest by the Senators a more extreme attempt had been made against Banire.

Bounce News gathered that there was an initial attempt to ambush the appointment with an unfavourable security report.

Sources disclosed moves were made to make the State Security Service (DSS) issue an unfavorable security report against Banire, but the plot didn’t pan out.

It was after this that all disguises were discarded and the Senators from Lagos openly protested against the ratification of the appointment by the Senate.

But unfortunately for them, just like the behind the scene, it didn’t work out because the appointment isn’t tied to you must be from Lagos, rather it is given out based on presidential discretion.
