As politicians are warming up for 2019 election and the political atmosphere is gathering momentum, some common features of electioneering activities are now beginning to emerge.

On Thursday night, an All Progressives Congress aspirant to the Federal House of Representatives in Owo, Ondo State, Olayato Aribo was allegedly attacked by political thugs.

His campaign vehicle was noticeably vandalized while it's occupants were said to have narrowly escaped.

According to an eye witness, the aspirant was not in the vehicle as at the time of attack but two of his supporters identified as Lanre Kako and Tope were waylaid.

"The two men were driving in one vehicle from the campaign office around post office but stopped to buy Suya from mallam when the hoodlums pounced on them.

"Everybody had to run away when the attackers started firing gunshot into the air. They Vandalised the vehicle when they noticed that their victims have escaped. It was a horrible scene." The source said.

Commenting on the incident, the aspirant, said he did not suspect anybody but the matter has been reported to the police.

"We have reported the matter to the police. They have come to inspect the scene of the incident. It is now left for the police to do their job.

"Nobody is happy about it and am sure governor Rotimi Akeredolu will not be happy about the development as well." He maintained.

Confirming the incident, the state police command public relations officer, Femi Joseph, stated that investigation has been launched into the incident and promised that the perpetrators will soon be arrested.
