These are legends who graced the football pitch both within and outside this country for many years winning laurels for club and country.

Saturday evening was another day for them to win a new laurel as ex-Super Eagles players converged at Ile Ife for a novelty match to mark the 43rd birthday of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II.

Legends like Peter Rufai, Mutiu Adepoju, Taribo West, were on hand to display skills, tackles against the Ife-Modakeke team which was coached by veteran coach, Adegboye Onigbinde.

The novelty match played at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife Sports Complex to herald the birthday Ceremony of His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11, Ooni of Ife, saw the veteran Eagles defeating Ife-Modakeke team by two goals.

The OAU sports complex was filled to capacity as friends, family, tradition rulers, high chiefs, the management of OAU, students and general public came to watch the ex-internationals.
