(PHOTOS) See How Police Guarded Court During Melaye's Trial
After a bee stings a child, the next time the child sees a big fly; a race for life will begin.
Could this have been the case on Monday when the Senator Representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, appeared in Senior Magistrate Court, Kogi, for the continuation of trial?
The last time the police had an encounter with Senator Melaye in April it lacked a sweet ending.
In a statement, the police said its vehicle was double-crossed, giving the Senator an opportunity to jump off.
A repeat of that incident is something that the police may not want.
Are the police afraid Senator Melaye could run?
Police officials guarding the Senator have been withdrawn, but the court premises had over 12 policemen guarding it when the trial was going on.
The Senator was arraigned along with Kabiru Seidu, 31, aka “Osama” and Nuhu Salihu, 25, aka “Small” for alleged illegal possession of firearms and illegal dealing in arms.
Senator Melaye has denied the allegation in one of his usual videos.
The trial could not continue on Monday, as a Senior Magistrate the court, Sulyman Abdullah, adjourned the case to July 26 to give the parties time to compile their documents.
