Residents of several communities in Kogi State have sad tales to tell.

Their houses, roads and shops have been submerged by floods following a downpour.

Bounce News visited the flooded areas and it was discovered that most residents have abandoned their homes.

Students were seen waiting for assistance to cross the flooded road.

The Kogi Government has however commenced the distribution of foodstuffs and other relief items to victims displaced by recent flood that has ravaged parts of the state.

Sanusi Yahaya, the state’s Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, announced this at the official flag-off of the distribution in Lokoja.


The Commissioner told Bounce News that, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) had also sent some relief items such as mattresses, blankets, and mats, among others, to be distributed to the flood victims at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps across the state.
