PHOTOS: Have You Seen Osinbajo In Solar Keke?
Nigeria now has a solar-powered Keke (auto rickshaw) and this is a great development not just for the transport sector but for job creation in Nigeria with one of the highest rate of unemployment in the world.
On Tuesday, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, had a ride in a solar Keke in Anambra State and it is proudly Made in Nigeria.
He was in the state for a Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises clinic held in the state to showcase some exploits in technology, manufacturing and other business endeavours.
After taking a nice ride in the solar-powered tricycle, Professor Yemi Osinbajo wrote: "Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the Tele-health conference in Umuahia and attending the MSME clinic in Anambra State.
"Once again, I witnessed the Nigerian spirit of creativity and hard work".
Nigeria's unending power sector issues and petrol challenges over the years have resulted in the need for an alternative means of powering this small transportation means that conveys three to four persons per time.
Families are feeding off Keke and the technology needs to overcome petrol scarcity tendencies in Nigeria.
Solar is abundant in the nation that has an adage about the availability of sun. "No matter how much the rain falls the sun will surely shine," it goes.
And this is what the manufacturers of the solar-powered Keke has tapped into in producing the machine that has the solar panel on its roof.
