Motorists and commuters travelling from Lokoja towards the South East/South South parts of the country were stranded for hours  following the flooding of some portions of the Ajaokuta-Lokoja highway.

Bounce News field reporter observed that the River Niger overflowed its bank into the busy Ajaokuta-Lokoja highway around Ganaja Village axis, thus causing heavy traffic.

It was observed that youths in the area were making efforts to salvage the situation by helping motorists whose vehicles got stuck in the flood.

Meanwhile, Director climate change Kogi state Ministry of Environment and Natural resources, Mrs Dorcas Enehe has told the flood victims who are currently putting up with their relatives to  visit the internally displaced persons camp close to them to put down their names, in order to have access to the relief materials that is being distributed by the Ministry.

She said only those who are in the IDP camps who have written down their names would be attended to.

Earlier, she expressed worry that the IDP camps were not spacious enough to accommodate all those impacted by the flood.

She however warned those still staying where the flood water has overthrown to move away quickly as the waters keep overflowing its bank.
