An Okada rider has been left injured in a fatal road accident on Wednesday morning.

The accident happened close to the Ikeja-Along bustop on the Lagos-Abeokuta highway.

The incident involved a saloon car, a danfo (commercial bus) and an okada (commercial motorcycle).

The driver of the car, who is reported to have exceeded speed limits, stopped abruptly and was hit from behind by the danfo.

He was said to have lost control and climbed the median. In the process, the car hit an Okada coming from the other side of the road.

The car was stopped from crossing to the other side of the road by the BRT sign post erected on the median.

The rider was seriously injured and has been taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.

The driver of the car was, however, not hurt, while the damaged car has been towed into the Ikeja Local government.

The accident resulted in a gridlock along the road.

Officers of the Lagos State Transport Management Authority (LASTMA) were seen trying to clear the road for motorists to get to their destinations.
