President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday met with Service Chiefs and heads of security agencies at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The closed-door meeting is a routine weekly interaction between President Buhari and the Service Chiefs and other heads of security agencies to brief him on happenings in their respective agencies and units.

The Tuesday meeting is coming few days after at least 15 persons were killed in a community in Zamfara State.

Killings in the north-central and north-west regions of Nigeria is increasing and President Buhari had at differnt times assured Nigerians that it would soon come to an end. 

Troops have been deployed to the affected areas, but that has not stopped attacks in some states.

Earlier, before the more elaborate meeting started, President Buhari met with the Service Chiefs, Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Daura and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Rufa’i.

At Tuesday's meeting were the Minister of Defence, retired Brig. Mansur Dan-Ali; National Security Adviser to the President, retired Maj-Gen. Babagana Munguno and the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, are among those attending the meeting.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that some Directors from the Ministry of Defence and security agencies were also seen at the venue of the meeting.

Also on June 4, the President and the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, met separately with heads of security agencies at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The outcomes of the two separate meeting were not officially made known to the public.
