President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday held talks with pastors of Arewa Non-Denominational Initiative for Peace.

The meeting was held at the State House, Abuja.

They are pastors from northern states. 

Security issue is one that is bedevilling most northern states. From Boko Haram attacks to attacks by arms bandits who sometimes attack communities as herdsmen or bandits on motorcycles. 

It is not clear what the closed-door meeting with President Buhari was about, but it is coming two weeks and a day since girls taken from a school in Dapchi were returned, with a Christian among them still in Boko Haram captivity.

Leah Sharibu was allegedly held back by the terrorists because she refused to denounce her faith.

After other girls returned, President Buhari assured Leah’s family that she would return, but nothing has been heard about her since then.

At the meeting were the National Chairman of the group, Bishop Dr John Abu Richard, Archbishop Dr Musa Usman Katsina, Bishop Adamu Danja, Danladi Ochekpe, Bishop Tom Madugu and Bishop Manasseh Kefas.

Several pastors have prayed for Leah’s return, but she has been in captivity for more than a month and two weeks now.

Leah is being deprived of her right to education and religion.
