Five Manchester City players have been named in the Professional Footballers' Association players' Team of the Year.

And that is not a surprise.

Midfielders Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva, defenders Nicolas Otamendi and Kyle Walker and striker Sergio Aguero represent the Premier League champions.

Tottenham Hotspur are next with three players; defender Jan Vertonghen, midfielder Christian Eriksen and striker Harry Kane who has scored 25 goals.

Manchester United's sole player in the team is goalkeeper David de Gea.

As expected, the only African player in the TOTY is Liverpool’s Egyptian sensation, Mohamed Salah.

Just like Liverpool and Manchester United, Marcos Alonso is the only Chelsea player included in the team of the year.

None of Nigeria’s Super Eagles stars, Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho made the list.
