Nigeria's Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has condemned the killing of worshipers at a church in Anambra State.

At least 8 worshipers were killed by gunmen on Sunday during a service at St. Philip Catholic Church, Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area in Anambra State.

The Acting President described the act as atrocious and mindless, saying he has been receiving regular updates on the status of investigations.

"I have been in touch with the Anambra State Governor, Willy Obiano, Police Authorities and other security agencies.

"I have been assured that the perpetrators of the heinous crimes would be brought to justice," the Acting President said on Twitter.

He also commiserated with families, relatives, friends of the victims and the entire people of Anambra State.

"I am sorry for your loss. Our hearts are with you. May God bring you comfort and bless the memories of your loved ones," the Acting President who is a Pastor, said.

After the attack, police ruled out chances that it had link with terrorism.
