#PDPPresidentialPrimary: Counting Of Votes Begins
Voting has ended in the ongoing Presidential Primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Sorting and counting of votes by election officers began immediately after members voted for their choice candidates and Nigerians are awaiting the result of the primary to know who their option will be in the 2019 general election.
The primary election held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
Counting of votes started in the early hours of Sunday.
Members of the PDP had gathered to make the all-important choice that will pitch the party well against the All Progressives Congress (APC) that has adopted President Muhammadu Buhari as its presidential candidate.
Prior to the commencement of voting in the primary election, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State read out the rules guiding the voting process to the delegates and also the order in which the states would be called out to vote.
President Buhari, who is now the candidate of the APC, after his nomination, gave an acceptance speech, reeling out his achievements in his first term in office and also making some promises.
Nigerians are waiting to see who will emerge as the candidate of the opposition party that had ruled Nigeria for over 16 years before the emergence of President Buhari in 2015.
