The National Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus on Saturday led some members of the National Executive Committee of the party to visit former military president, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.

Secondus was accompanied by the national secretary,  Umar Ibrahim Tsauri, national financial secretary, Abdullahi Maibasira, deputy national financial secretary, Austin Akobundu and Kola Ologbodiyan, the national publicity secretary.
 
A source close to the meeting told journalists that Secondus briefed Babangida about the efforts being made by the leadership to reposition the party ahead of the 2019 elections.

Secondus was quoted to have boasted that PDP was ready for the 2019 general elections. 

It was gathered that the National Executive Committee commended IBB for the role he played in unifying the party. 

It was learnt that General Babangida, “received the delegation warmly” and assured it of his support at all times.

The former Nigerian military ruler emphasised his belief in the unity of Nigeria and asked everyone to work towards ensuring peace in the country.
