13 years ago, Johnson Adeleke was respected by his congregation as a 'Man of God' until he did the unthinkable.

His sins caught up with him when he least expected to be punished.

The pastor of a new generation church in Abeokuta had proposed marriage to the victim and informed her parents that God revealed to him that the victim is his wife.

A claim that was disregarded by the victim’s parents.

He, however, forceful had sexual intercourse with the victim when she attended one of the church’s vigil programmes.

He threatened to kill the girl  if she informed anyone.

The victim’s mother noticed that her daughter was pregnant and mounted pressure on her to disclose who was responsible for the pregnancy.

The mother, who could not believe what she heard, reported to the police.

Adeleke was arrested and charged to court.

He was docked before An Abeokuta High Court on one-count charge of rape contrary to Section 258 (1) of the Criminal Code Law of Ogun 2006.

In her ruling on Friday, Justice Olatokunbo Majekodunmi held that from the evidence before her, the convict was guilty of the rape charge preferred against him.

Majekodunmi held that the cleric had intercourse with the victim, now 27 years old.

The court said justice delayed would not translate to justice denied and the self-acclaimed pastor was sentenced to jail for 5 years without an option of fine.
