An aircraft in the fleet of Overland Airways has caught fire, reports said.

Thankfully, the plane was still in the hanger, so no one was reported hurt.

Punch reports that the plane caught fire on Friday at one of the General Aviation Terminal hangars at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.

The reports further said that the plane went up in flames while it was still connected to the Group Ground Power Unit of the local airport.

It was gathered that there was explosion as the aircraft burned, sending splinters all over the grounds.

Fire services successfully doused the fire, though the plane reportedly burnt beyond redemption.

The airline is yet to issue any official statement regarding the incident at the time of filling this report.
