#OsunRerun: Observers And Voters Turned Back At Polling Units
After the September 22, governorship elections in Osun state was declared inconclusive, a supplementary poll was announced to hold today, September 27 in seven polling units in four local government areas of the state.
The affected local governments include Ife North, Ife South, Orolu and Osogbo.
The re-run is basically within the main candidates - Ademola Adeleke of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), and Gboyega Oyetola, of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
As early as 8am on the day of the re-run, music star and nephew of the PDP candidate, Davido tweeted that security agents were preventing people from voting at a polling unit in Orolu LGA.
Bounce News can confirm that the atmosphere in the towns involved in the re-run are tense, as mean-faced soldiers and police officers stand guard over the voting proceedings.
At one of the polling units visited at Adereti village along Ondo road, it was observed that the PDP party agent was not present.
People who were present at the polling unit told Bounce News that the party agents were chased away by thugs.
Despite all this, voting continued peacefully.
Many of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) supporters who were ready to support PDP also told Bounce News that they were prevented from voting at the polling unit by thugs who could identify them.
The thugs are believed to be loyal to the governorship candidate of SDP, Iyiola Omisore , who had earlier declared his support for the ruling APC.
The accusations of observers and voters being prevented from voting or observing the elections continued on social media.
