#OsunDecides2018: Police 'Disobeys' Buhari Says No time Limit To Arrest Adeleke
Is there truly a government within the government of President Muhammadu Buhari?
This claim of a powerful cabal within the Buhari cabinet was highlighted by Senate President, Bukola Saraki during the standoff between the DSS and some opposition lawmakers.
This allegation appears to be playing out again. This time police authorities claim there is no time limit to arrest the PDP's governorship candidate in Saturday's Osun election.
On Wednesday, Senator Ademola Adeleke was accused of by the police of Examination Malpractice, Criminal Conspiracy, Impersonation, Breach of Duty, Aiding and Abetting. He was subsequently asked to come for a discussion.
However, President Buhari, who serves as Commander in Chief of the armed forced overruled that ultimatum.
He ordered the police not to arrest Adeleke until Saturday's election had been conducted.
But the Force Spokesman, Jimoh Moshood on Good Morning Nigeria televised on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) on Thursday said the matter has been filed at the court.
According to Jimoh, "There is no time limit to arrest a suspect. Any suspect that has been accused or there is allegation of an offence can be invited at any time.
"Police action terminates when a matter has been taken to court. We have filed charges in court and the matter is off our hands.
"But if there is any directive that we should not invite him, that directive does not exonerate him from [allegation] court process and the people should know that the rule of law prevails above any other consideration."
Is there a higher force from who these security operatives take instructions?
